The Wind Farm/Wind Turbine maps are based on GPS data extracted up to March 2026 from projects published on the MASE portal, existing turbines from Open Street Map database and manual mapping from other geo-referenced sources (i.e. Google Earth)

At present, our database includes 3653 records wind turbines, including 881 that are already operational.

Three different layers are available:

• "Existing" wind farms: Wind turbines that are already in production. Data might be incomplete, including naming and grouping as part of the same wind farm. Most of them appear as individual features, after magnifying the map.
• "Offshore" wind turbines: At the moment, no Offshore farm is already build in Sardinian waters and we hope it will stay so. Features in this layer include some land infrastructure ( i.e. power stations, BESS)
• "Onshore" wind turbines: This category includes the vast majority of projects, including a few that are already in production and Repowering plans for existing farms.

Each wind turbine icon can be selected to view additional information such as project name, project ID, turbine model, and dimensions.
